Dr. Herman earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota where he subsequently completed an advanced education clinical training residency in temporomandibular disorders obtaining a Masters of Science in Dentistry.

James Fricton DDS, MS, co-founder of the clinic, takes great joy in helping patients with simple to complex head, neck, orofacial, and TMJ pain conditions as well as obstructive sleep disorders.

Dr. Preetanjali Thakur is a board-certified Diplomat by the American Board of Orofacial Pain.

Dr. Chitra Priya Emperumal is a dual dental specialist in Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine, board certified by the American Board of Orofacial Pain with a Diplomate status and board-eligible Oral Medicine specialist.

Dr. Nascimento is an Orofacial Pain Specialist who completed a residency program and is board-certified in Orofacial Pain by the American Board of Orofacial Pain. He has 20 years of clinical research experience.

Jeanne Barss is a talented Periodontist with a love for Implants, Oral Medicine, and Immunology. She is also a specialist in diagnosing and treating Burning Mouth Syndrome.

Dr. Kehl earned her D.D.S. from the University of Minnesota School of dentistry. In addition, she completed post-graduate training in TMJ and Orofacial Pain Management in conjunction with a Ph.D. in Neuroscience also at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Eric Schiffman is a professor at the University of Minnesota. He has over 30 years of experience treating Orofacial Pain patients. He has received over $16 million in research funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and has over 60 peer-reviewed publications, 12 book chapters and 3 patents.

Dr. Saranya Varun is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain and has an Advanced Education clinical training residency and, subsequently, a Master of Science (MS) degree from the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Mittman has practiced dentistry for over 15 years, focusing on TMD, Orofacial Pain and Sleep Medicine for the past eight years.

She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain.

Sarah Shueb joins the Minnesota Head and Neck Pain Clinic group practice treating adults and children with TMJ complaints, orofacial pain as well as management of obstructive sleep apnea with mandibular advancement devices.

Alfred L. Clavel Jr., M.D. is a Neurologist and Pain Specialist and current Department Chair of Pain Management for Health Partners Inc.

Dr. Monsein has 40 years of clinical experience in the area of acute and chronic pain management. He is a graduate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Monsein served as the medical director for the Chronic Pain Program first at Sister Kenny Institute, and 10 years at the Courage Center.

Patti is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Program in Physical Therapy. In addition to seeing patients at the Minnesota Head & Neck Pain Clinic, she is a physical therapist at the TMD, Orofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine Clinic at the UMN.

Bonnie has a graduate certificate in physical therapy from the University of Iowa. She has an undergraduate degree in Biology from Luther College in Iowa.

Leslie Hovda has a passion for mentoring and teaching and has taught temporomandibular courses nationwide, mentors locally, and is an American Physical therapy Association Credentialed Clinical Instructor.

Lori Sandberg received a Master of Science degree in physical therapy from the University of Minnesota. In addition, she obtained advanced training in the area of temporomandibular disorders and orofacial pain.

Nationally Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach with a graduate degree in Integrative Health and Wellbeing Coaching with a minor in Health Equity.

Emily Ness, MA, NBC-HWC, an Integrative Health and Wellbeing Coach

Emily Ness received a Master’s degree in Integrative Health and Wellbeing Coaching from the University of Minnesota. In addition, she obtained her National Board Certification for Health and Wellness Coaching.

Dr. Curran has a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Kentucky and completed the certificate program of the Department of Behavioral Medicine, University of Kentucky College of Medicine.
