Responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating of patients with complex chronic orofacial pain and dysfunction disorders (mechanical jaw joint conditions), oromotor and jaw behavior disorders, and chronic head and neck pain.
Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with complex chronic orofacial pain and dysfunction disorders (mechanical jaw joint conditions), oral motor and jaw behavior disorders, and chronic head and neck pain, as well as the pursuit of knowledge of the underlying pathophysiology and mechanisms of these disorders.
Diagnose and manage patients with complex chronic orofacial pain disorders including neuropathic orofacial pain disorders, neurovascular orofacial pain disorders, chronic regional pain syndrome, complex masticatory and cervical neuromuscular pain disorders, primary headache disorders, pain from complex temporomandibular joint disorders, mechanical jaw joint conditions, autoimmune conditions, pain secondary to orofacial cancer and AIDS, orofacial dyskinesias and dystonia’s, orofacial sleep disorders like obstructive sleep apnea, upper airway respiratory syndrome (including the use of oral appliances to treat sleep related airway disorders), and other complex disorders causing persistent pain and dysfunction of the orofacial structures and oral mucosal conditions.
Ability to manage medication for complex co-morbid conditions by understanding the pharmacokinetics and drug interactions with the goal to reduce the transition of chronic to persistent pain conditions and acute to chronic by using patient centered care model.

Requires a Master’s degree in Dentistry or a related field, active State of Minnesota dental license, AND Board Certification (Diplomate) with the American Board of Orofacial Pain (ABOP).
Applicants must also have obtained an Orofacial Pain certification from a CODA-accredited program within a School of Dentistry. Applicants must have certification in CPR.
