Minnesota Head & Neck Pain Clinic is pleased to welcome Stephanie Standal, MD, to our growing team of specialists.
Dr. Standal is a board-certified physiatrist specializing in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. Her addition expands the specialized care available at MHNPC and allows us to serve patients with an even broader range of conditions affecting pain, movement and function.
What Is a Physiatrist?
Physiatrists are physicians who specialize in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, a field of medicine focused on helping people improve function and quality of life when they are affected by pain, injury or conditions involving the muscles, nerves and nervous system.
Rather than focusing on a single part of the body, physiatrists consider how a condition affects a person’s overall function and daily life. This approach makes Dr. Standal’s expertise a natural addition to the multidisciplinary care available at Minnesota Head & Neck Pain Clinic.
Dr. Standal’s Clinical Interests
Dr. Standal’s clinical interests include chronic migraine and headaches, cervical dystonia, spasticity, movement disorders, neuromuscular conditions, and head and neck pain.
She also has specialized expertise in therapeutic botulinum neurotoxin (Botox®) injections. Botox® is widely recognized for its cosmetic use, but it also has important therapeutic applications and can be used as part of the treatment of conditions such as chronic migraine, cervical dystonia and spasticity.
Her approach to care emphasizes evidence-based treatment centered around each patient’s individual needs and goals.
Education and Training
Dr. Standal earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed her residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Minnesota. She is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Standal will begin seeing patients October 1 at our Woodbury, Burnsville, Plymouth and St. Paul locations. Scheduling is open now for new and established patients.
